I.          Which Baptism?
             A.        John’s baptism:  Matt. 3:12; 21:25

B.        Baptism for the dead:  1 Cor. 15:29-30

C.        Baptism of suffering:  Mk. 10:35-40

D.        Holy Spirit baptism:   Acts 1:4-5;  Jn. 14:26;  16:13;    Lk. 24:44-49

E.         Baptism commanded of all humanity: Matt. 28:18-20;   Mk. 16:15-16; Eph. 4:4-5;  Acts 8:30-40

 

II.        What BAPTISM DOES NOT Do:
             A.        Eliminate temptation

             B.        Prevent sin

             C.        Guarantee salvation

 

III.       What BAPTISM DOES Do:

A.        Wash away sin  --  Acts 22:16;  Rev. 1:5

B.        Put one in Christ  --  Gal. 3:27

C.        Secure the benefits of the  death of Christ  --  Rom 6:3

D.        Place one in the body (church) – 1 Cor. 12:12-13; Acts 2:47

E.         Provide the gift of the Holy Spirit --  Acts 2:38

F.         Save  --  1 Pet. 3:21

 

IV.       BAPTISM Is the BEGINNING Of:

A.        A life of faith(fulness)  --  Rev. 2:10

             B.        Moral purity  --  Eph. 5:3-5

             C.        Concern for the lost  --  Phil 2:12-16
